{"id":677,"date":"2015-08-31T22:08:24","date_gmt":"2015-09-01T03:08:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paulcarbone.com\/blog\/?p=677"},"modified":"2015-09-06T08:34:03","modified_gmt":"2015-09-06T13:34:03","slug":"continued-adventures-in-nixie-counting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulcarbone.com\/blog\/continued-adventures-in-nixie-counting\/","title":{"rendered":"Continued adventures in nixie counting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Getting the <a href=\"http:\/\/paulcarbone.com\/blog\/?p=493\">Transistor Specialties 1519 <\/a>back on the bench for some overdue continued exploration.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve found that I can get the &#8216;B&#8217; channel to increment it&#8217;s count by toggling the gate Start\/Stop switch.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a center return switch, and only by running the switch all the way from Stop to Start, across the center detent, can I get it to increment.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/vine.co\/v\/er7ViXKiDjV\/embed\/simple\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Some further discoveries:<br \/>\nthis toggle trick only works around 110v line voltage.\u00a0 I&#8217;m running it on a vairac, limiting it to 115v.<br \/>\nEarlier I think remarked that it was either 3 different flavors of boards, then I realized it might only be two?\u00a0 It&#8217;s three.\u00a0 The first counter card is different.\u00a0 Though the layout is largely the same, some components are different, and it dawned on me only now that it&#8217;s probably because that card is the one&#8217;s counter, and thus needs to have a much higher bandwidth than those following it.\u00a0 duh.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the beginnings of a schematic for the input card (one of two) ignore the &#8216;trigger level controls&#8217; note.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/paulcarbone.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/TSI_1519_INPUT1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-738\" src=\"https:\/\/paulcarbone.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/TSI_1519_INPUT1.jpg\" alt=\"TSI_1519_INPUT1\" width=\"1267\" height=\"590\" srcset=\"https:\/\/paulcarbone.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/TSI_1519_INPUT1.jpg 1267w, https:\/\/paulcarbone.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/TSI_1519_INPUT1-300x140.jpg 300w, https:\/\/paulcarbone.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/TSI_1519_INPUT1-1024x477.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/paulcarbone.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/TSI_1519_INPUT1-500x233.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1267px) 100vw, 1267px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><script src=\"https:\/\/platform.vine.co\/static\/scripts\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Getting the Transistor Specialties 1519 back on the bench for some overdue continued exploration.
