{"id":902,"date":"2015-11-27T20:19:56","date_gmt":"2015-11-28T01:19:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paulcarbone.com\/blog\/?p=902"},"modified":"2015-11-27T20:22:18","modified_gmt":"2015-11-28T01:22:18","slug":"canned-air-your-troubleshooting-friend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulcarbone.com\/blog\/canned-air-your-troubleshooting-friend\/","title":{"rendered":"Canned air, your troubleshooting friend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After being on for about an hour, the intensity dropped to zero again.\u00a0 After that I&#8217;d fire it up, and it would come on but quickly dim, and the intensity control wouldn&#8217;t effect the intensity, but move the beam slightly.<\/p>\n<p>I traced the problem to the -15v supply, and finally the capacitor C143 (which I&#8217;d already replaced!).\u00a0 I zeroed in on the problem by cooling areas using canned air with the bottle tilted to get a blast of frost.\u00a0\u00a0 The -15v supply would dip down to about 10v shortly after power up, but would rocket back up to -15v when I hit it with the frost, and I&#8217;d see the beam change.\u00a0 A handy trick!
